The Oyo state gubernatorial candidate of the Action African Congress (AAC) in the last election, Akinwale Omololu Laosun, on Friday stated that the Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde should note that it is time to get to work and justify the mandate given to the new government, adding that the period of politicking is over.
Laosun who was speaking on the need for the newly inaugurated government to get to work stated that, “the time for politicking and permutations about the last election is long over, this is Akinwale Omololu Laosun Support Group Organisation’s way of calling the new government to that reality before the frenzy of  government in power consumes her.”
He explained that his party’s tour of the state during the campaigns was indicative of the fact that the people were indeed desirous of a new order and an improvement from what used to be which obviously gave rise to the result as reflected in the choice of the newly sworn-in government.

Laosun further informed the new government that he and his party will not fail to live up to their roles as an opposition party in the state, adding that, “this we will do to check and checkmate the government regularly in the areas of her policies, actions, inactions, attitude and efforts in the interest of the people of the state for better service delivery and more importantly, as a stakeholder in the desirous of a better Oyo state.
“We hereby charge the new government to ensure that all the campaign promises it made to the people do not remain mere talks but move from the realms of promises to reality as we are well aware that every part of the state where votes came from would want to feel the impact of the newness that they voted for,” he stated.
Laosun who lauded the efforts of the immediate past administration in the state for helping to improve the security architecture of the state, urged the new government not to allow the state slip back in to the years of wanton killings, brigandage, destruction of property, violence, crime and criminalities as it will be the greatest betrayal of trust on the part of government to the people.
“We urge the new government to do all within its powers to ensure that all loopholes are blocked in ensuring that the people of the state can sleep with their two eyes closed. The high-security votes for the state must be judiciously spent on securing the state and its people.
“Please note that we will not fail to lend our voice to issues should the government fail to keep its promises to the workers or introduce policies that might not be in the overall interest of the people of the state as a whole,” he stated.
Laosun concluded by assuring the people of the state that he will not fail to stand by and with them as a voice in the opposition once he senses the government os getting carried away with frivolities and assured the Seyi Makinde PDP- led government of his support and that of his group, should it be needed on any issue as occasion may demand.
