The Edo State chairman of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih who deplored the action said that he was going to take the matter up with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Also at Atte, Akoko Edo Local Government Area in Edo North Senatorial district, there were reports of violence, intimidation and rigging by suspected hoodlums.
Orbih who voted early at the local polling unit in his home town of Ogbona, Etsako Central local government area said that he had to rush to the hotspots to monitor the situation and make sure that the electoral body rectify the problem.
He said that it was cause for concern that the illegal acts were perpetrated right under the nose of the different security agencies some of whom were given the order to shoot ballot box snatchers at sight.
He fumed: “What happened to the shoot- at- sight order by the president? Why were they not shot? We are going to take it up with the relevant authorities. We won’t allow this to go unchallenged.”
At Azama Primary School, Jattu, Etsako West local government area, voting was orderly and devoid of violence.
Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu voted early and expressed satisfaction at the turnout of voters.
