According to a source, the three guards who were killed within 24 hours were macheted to death by their assailants at their duty posts between Friday and Saturday morning
The source explained that some armed men last Friday invaded a beer depot along Oba-Ile, killing the two security guards at the depot, leaving the place without taking any item along with them.
He explained that the corpse of the two men was discovered by some policemen who were on night patrol in the area, who later deposited their corpse at the morgue
The source also said two gunmen invaded a filling station along Akure Airport, in the middle of the night on Friday but the two guards at the at the filling station ran away from the station unhurt.
He, however, explained that the armed men numbering four, mobilised themselves to the filling station the following day, killing one of the guards, simply known and called Baba Eze.
He said one of the guards ran away after sighting the hoodlums and reported the incident at the police station but said the 60-year-old Eze was unlucky as the hoodlums had macheted him before police arrive at the scene
Eze was said to be left in his pool of blood and died before help could reach him while the hoodlums escaped.
He said “the second guard who took to his heel reported the incident at the police station but before they could get to the scene, Eze was gasping for breath and could not make it to the hospital.
“He was matcheted and lost a lot of blood and could not be revived before giving up. ”
He, however, confirmed that the four armed men also left the scene of the incident without taking or removing anything from the filling station.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident.

Joseph said the two security men at the beer depot were found dead within the depot by men of the Ondo State police command on night patrol.
Joseph who identified the two guards as Sunday and Paul from Langtang in Plateau state said the remains of the two men had been deposited at the morgue while the investigation has begun into the matter
He said “policemen on night patrol usually check on the security guards for security alert during their night patrol but when there was no response from the guards, they went into the depot only to discover their dead bodies”
He, however, confirmed that another security guard, Baba Eze was killed by some armed men on Saturday night at a filling station along the Airport road, but said no arrest was made, while he said the state police command has commenced an investigation into the killing
He said ” we will not relent in our efforts to provide safety to people of Ondo state, we have commenced an investigation into the matter and we are on the trail of the assailants.
“We have put some measures in place to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice”
Joseph, however, appealed to the public to provide useful information that will help the police to arrest the criminals.
