Afrobeats, which is a genre of music that originated from West Africa has taken over, from every of its contemporaries lately, due to its unrivaled ability to carry every other genre of music along in its rendition with infectious sounds and beats. One could even refer to it as a large pond with varieties of fishes. Therein, you find Banku Music, Afro-rave, Afro-fusion, Pop, and R&B, amongst others which are varieties.

Since its wider popularity in the early 2010s until now, it has continued to accommodate different tribes and tongues into its chamber. Most of the countries of the world, in recent times, have sampled the Afrobeats’ sounds in their musical production.

As if this is not enough, it has also welcomed new talents from all the nooks and crannies of the world; Ghanaian artistes like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and others; South Africans and Americans, even the Asian countries are no exceptions. If you do not find them sampling Afrobeats in their music, you would rather notice an infusion of Afrobeats sounds in them.

Therefore, it is safe to say that the genre, Afrobeats, is a durable canopy or tent that would continue to welcome new faces and phases as time goes by. In the Nigeria of today, Afrobeats has witnessed so many facets and faces in the past and recent times, including P-square, Tuface, Mo’Hits Boiz, D Banj, Wande Coal, Davido, Olamide, Dagrin, and so on. Some of these people have come and gone, and some are still in the limelight. Still, a new set of people are still coming in, to extend the wings of Afrobeats.
