Afrobeats, which is a genre of music that originated from West Africa has taken over, from every of its contemporaries lately, due to its unrivaled ability to carry every other genre of music along in its rendition with infectious sounds and beats. One could even refer to it as a large pond with varieties of fishes. Therein, you find Banku Music, Afro-rave, Afro-fusion, Pop, and R&B, amongst others which are varieties.
Since its wider popularity in the early 2010s until now, it has continued to accommodate different tribes and tongues into its chamber. Most of the countries of the world, in recent times, have sampled the Afrobeats’ sounds in their musical production.
As if this is not enough, it has also welcomed new talents from all the nooks and crannies of the world; Ghanaian artistes like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and others; South Africans and Americans, even the Asian countries are no exceptions. If you do not find them sampling Afrobeats in their music, you would rather notice an infusion of Afrobeats sounds in them.
Therefore, it is safe to say that the genre, Afrobeats, is a durable canopy or tent that would continue to welcome new faces and phases as time goes by. In the Nigeria of today, Afrobeats has witnessed so many facets and faces in the past and recent times, including P-square, Tuface, Mo’Hits Boiz, D Banj, Wande Coal, Davido, Olamide, Dagrin, and so on. Some of these people have come and gone, and some are still in the limelight. Still, a new set of people are still coming in, to extend the wings of Afrobeats.
And in the ever-evolving phase of Afrobeats, Paul Otasowie Ajayi is that guy who has come with a grocery of talents in the music industry to contribute his own quota to the growth of Afrobeats. Paul Otasowie Ajayi, who is known by his stage name as Nito-P, is a multifaceted talent who embodies the spirit of Afrobeats and Hip-Hop. Born on October 30, 1992, in Benin City, Nigeria. Egbeta which is his hometown served as a formative stage for his. His passion for music at an early age was embolden and this began his journey in the music industry through a friend in his school hostel.
For Nito-P’s secondary education, he attended Okada Grammar School, Okada, which he later furthered his education to Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU).
Nito-P has earlier been an aficionado of music, football, tennis, and traveling right from his teenage years. But took music seriously above every other hobby when he got to the university. Having realized that his true calling was music, he thereby ventured into the music industry with the support and encouragement from his friends.
His music career is inspired by his role model, Dagrin, as he strongly believes that his music could move people the way Dagrin’s music did move him the first time he listened to him. He also believes that Afrobeats is the future of music and has the potential to carry positive messages across the globe.
With a growing presence in the music industry, Nito-P aims to win the Grammy award and become the best Rapper in Africa. And he is part of the new wave of Afrobeats artists offering fresh perspectives and infectious rhythms, solidifying Afrobeats as a cultural force.
