Tesco, other UK supermarkets adjust opening hours for August 25 bank holiday

As Britons mark the final long weekend of summer 2025, schools, banks, government offices, and many businesses are closed today, Monday, August 25, for the August bank holiday.

Supermarkets across the UK have also announced adjusted opening hours to accommodate the holiday. Customers are advised to check their local store finder for specific details.

Tesco

Tesco superstores will trade from 8am to 6 pm on Monday, while Tesco Express branches will stay open later.

Aldi

Aldi stores in England and Wales will open from 8 am to 8 pm, while those in Scotland will close at the usual 10 pm.

Asda

Most Asda stores will operate from 8 am to 10 pm, although hours may vary by location.

Co-op

Co-op convenience stores will open as usual, generally from 7am to 10 pm, with slight local differences.

Lidl

Lidl stores will run reduced hours, with variations across branches. The chain has advised customers to shop before 10 am or after 6 pm on Friday to avoid crowds.

Morrisons

In England and Wales, Morrisons will open from 7am to 8 pm, while stores in Scotland will maintain regular hours.
