The Minister of State for Power, Prince Goddy Jeddy Agba on Saturday said tertiary institutions are critical to the development of any society.
He emphasised that the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari would not spare any effort in ensuring that the needs of tertiary institutions are given topmost priority in the scheme of things.
Agba made these disclosures in Ile-Ife after inspecting the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) power project designed to generate 8.03 megawatts of electricity when completed.

Speaking during an interview session with journalists, he said “this project is dear to the federal government. We have energised Kano, Abakaliki. We would ensure the completion of the project.”
“There was a cost projection for the project. I cannot give you the total cost now. The project is to be carried out. It will be spread in all the geographical zones in the country. This project will not be abandoned and it will be completed soon.”
“I have visited the plant site. I will need to get back to Abuja and brief appropriate authorities. I cannot give exact time frame for the completion of the project. We have come to assess the level of work done here.”
“Universities are centre to the development of any society. We must encourage our universities by creating an enabling environment for them to carry out research capable of boosting the socio-economic growth of the nation. The federal government is absolutely committed to the steady development of tertiary institutions”, Agba stated
Earlier in his remark, the chairman, Governing Council of the OAU, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi lauded Agba for his support and commitment to the completion of the power project.
