UNEASY calm has enveloped Isuanaocha Community in Awka-North local government area of Anambra state following the gruesome murder of one of the youth leaders in the area.
38- year old Vice-chairman of the youth wing of the town Union, Isuanaocha Development Union ( IDU), Mr. Angus Okoye, father of three children, according to a reliable source in the area was in the early hours of yesterday abducted and murdered by hoodlums.
The source told Nigerian Tribune that the corpse of the youth leader was found yesterday morning on the roadside somewhere at a neighbouring Nawgu community in Dunukofia local government area.

Okoye, who is popularly known as “Igwe” is said to be one of the youth leaders in the community who was strongly opposed to the embattled President- general of the town Union, Mr. Anthony Nkem Onyeagolu, who the state government recently dissolved his town Union leadership and replaced it with a Caretaker Committee.
Tenure of Mr. Oneagolu’s executive which ought to elapse on May 3, 2021, according to sources in the area was cut short by the state government due to the crisis that engulfed the town since it came on board barely a year ago.
The youth wing of the community, our correspondent gathered has been locked in serious battle with the Mr. Onyeagolu town Union leadership over the collection and sharing of monies being collected as development levies from estate developers in the community, a development which sources in the area has been a sources of incessant clashes between opposing groups in the community, leading to casualties .
It was said that about six hefty men, had stormed the youth leader’s house in his Ifite village, Isuanaocha at about 2 am yesterday in a Shuttle bus, abducted him, after tying him up like a log of wood, hauled him into their waiting bus, and, took him to an unknown place.
It was gathered that one of his cousins whose name was simply given as Ebuka who slept in one of the rooms adjacent to that of the slain youth leader’s has admitted that he recognized about two of the people who abducted the slain youth leader.
Though a source in the deceased youth leader’s family said that they have reported the incident at Dunukofia Police Division, several calls put through on the mobile phone of the image-maker of the Anambra state police command, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, including a short message sent to his phone to get his reaction to the unfortunate incident did not yield the desired result as he did not either pick call or reply to the message.
