The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidate for Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State, Hon. Peter Julius Vau on Thursday pledged to run an inclusive and people-centred administration if elected.

Vau who promised to prioritise empowerment, unity, and development across all communities in the council area, also canvassed support for Governor Agbu Kefas ahead of 2027 general elections.

The PDP candidate who is the immediate past Commissioner for Urban and Rural Development stated this at the official flag-off of his campaign at Abbare B, and Mayolope Wards of the local government.

He expressed profound appreciation to the people of Lau for their solidarity and assured them that his administration would ensure equitable representation, participatory decision-making, and the implementation of programmes that empower youths and women.

“Our campaign is about building a united Lau where everyone has a voice and a fair share in governance,” he declared. “We are determined to deepen grassroots development, support local enterprises, and ensure no ward is left behind.

“The crowd you see here is affirmation that the people are with us. We are taking the campaign to the people who are our masters. With what I have seen here in Mayolope and Abbare B wards so far, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas should go and sleep and we will deliver Lau 100 per cent to him come 2027.”

Our correspondent reports that the campaign events drew an impressive turnout of party supporters, traditional leaders, youth groups, and women’s associations who expressed confidence in Hon. Vau’s capacity to deliver purposeful leadership.

Supporters at the rally who spoke to Nigerian Tribune described Hon. Vau as a unifying figure whose humility, accessibility, and proven track record make him the right candidate to lead Lau Local Government into a new era of progress.

Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Nuhu R. Akila, Member representing Lau Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, alongside political stakeholders such as Hon. Irimiya Hammanjulde, Hon. Danladi Ahmed Sokeh, Hon. Ibrahim Ezekiel, Hon. Driver Jalo, Hon. Salihu Isah Abbare, Hon. Peter Godwin, Hon. Cyprien Bandawa, Hon. Christy Sabastine, Hon. Absalom Simon, and Hon. Yakubu Yunana Soje, among others.
