TAPE 2018: Midnight Crew, Eben, Tim Godfrey, Lift Jesus High

THE African Praise Experience TAPE 2018 held a fortnight ago in Lagos which brought both young and old, the rich and not-so-rich together at the Rock Cathedral founded by the visionary, Pastor Paul Adefarasin

As early as 7 pm, the auditorium which seats over twenty thousand was more than half filled as fans and followers of the musicians to perform were struggling to get a good place at the auditorium.

Rave of the moment, Ada Ehi on account of her songs and Onos Ariyo along with the LMC Choir led the congregation in high praises after the opening prayer.

By the time our correspondent got to the venue by 10 pm, there was no space to sit or even stand and gain a vantage position at the different areas as thousands of youth were already in the church.

At 11 pm, Wellu wellu crooner, Sammie Okposo who was the HOTR music director for many years mounted the stage to sing ‘Oluwatobi’ and a medley of praise songs, Higher higher, On your Marks Let Us Go.

Fearless Tim Godfrey & Extreme Crew made a bold performance for more than an hour sharing his rags to riches testimony of how his family struggled with poverty and the sheer hard work of his parent to raise eight children.

This moved his mum who was present in the cathedral to tears.

One of the highlights of TAPE 2018 was the rendition of Fela’s song who’s 21st posthumous anniversary is being celebrated. Tim Godfrey and his group performed to the music of Water No Get Enemy using different lyrics to wow the audience with mixed reactions.

American singer, Travis Greene joined Tim in singing the song, ‘Na rekelemo’.

Old tunes like Jesus Is The Sweetest Name I Know, No Other Name Than The Name of Jesus resounded at the music concert.

Other gospel stalwarts like Eben, Midnight Crew also performed with their hit tunes like Hail thy Name, Shout Hallelujah, You ‘re highly lifted up, 30 billion Hallelujah, Mo Rire and a medley of Songs. Mike Abdul led all to shout 100 Halleluyahs. Pat King of Midnight Crew twitted:

The Lord moved mightily on the night.

Frank Edwards and Chioma Jesus completed the array of gospel artists that led praises giving a medley of songs, Ibuchimo, Oghene Do, Okaka, Mighty Battle and God that Changeth Not to the healer of our land.
