The management of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) has urged communication scholars and professionals to deploy their intellectual and professional expertise in support of Nigeria’s ongoing battle against oil vandalism and crude theft.
Speaking at the 12th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), held on 3–4 September 2025 at MBB Events, Effurun, Delta State, Capt. Waredi Enisuoh, Executive Director of Operations and Technical at Tantita, described oil theft as one of the most destructive forms of corruption facing the nation.
According to him, crude oil theft undermines governance, drains national revenue, and hampers community development.
While acknowledging government and security efforts, he stressed that communication professionals have a unique role in shaping public opinion, exposing criminal networks, and championing transparency in the oil and gas sector.
“The media and communication scholars can be powerful allies in fostering a cultural shift where oil theft and vandalism are not only seen as crimes but also as acts that threaten national survival,” Enisuoh said.
He highlighted Tantita’s achievements in curbing pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and illegal bunkering across the Niger Delta through collaboration with security agencies and host communities.
These efforts, he noted, had recorded significant success but required sustained awareness campaigns to remain effective.
Commending ACSPN for its focus on corruption, governance, and media, Enisuoh called on participants to extend their research and public enlightenment efforts to include the menace of oil theft.
He further assured that Tantita would continue to work with stakeholders to safeguard Nigeria’s oil assets for the benefit of all citizens.
