Recently, the fellowship had its second year anniversary, with the theme, God’s Mercy of the Police, where members and guests used the opportunity to pray for operatives of the police in different commands and formations across the country.
Speaking during the anniversary, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, said he was happy that members of the fellowship have been praying for policemen and women for one hour every Wednesday.
The police commissioner, who was represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the Iyaganku Area Command, Banji Ogunrinde, urged members to continue to prayer for their fellow policemen and women, as this was the only way all the challenges facing them would be solved.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Central Police Station, Iyaganku, CSP Emmanuel Ojopagogo, said several miracles had been recorded during the weekly prayer meeting of the fellowship, including healing, promotion, blessings, grace, battles being won, among others.
CSP Ojopagogo, therefore, urged other policemen to join them for the weekly prayer meeting, saying, “God is truly manifesting His powers through the fellowship.”
The DPO then commended the founder of the fellowship, Sergeant Evangelist Achanya Yunisa for coming up with the weekly prayer meeting, as it had made difference in the lives of policemen of the command.
While going down memory lane about the foundation of the fellowship, Sergeant Evangelist Yunisa said in 2016, he met the former Commissioner of Police of the command, Leye Oyebade, when he (Oyebade) visited my church.
“The pastor in charge then introduced me to him, and he asked what he could do for me. I then told him of my vision for a fellowship where policemen could meet weekly to pray for members of the Force and the country in general.
“The then police boss then said I should go and see the command’s chaplain and discuss with him, and after I did that, he gave us his blessing for the commencement of the fellowship, and we had our first edition on July 13, 2016.
“Since then, we have not looked back. I, however, hope this fellowship will go round all the police formations in the country.
“What we do for one hour every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m till 10:00 a.m is to pray for the country, the leadership of the police and all members of the force, and many members have been giving testimonies about the miracles the prayers have made in their lives.
“The fellowship is an interdenominational fellowship, and even non-Christians join us for prayers as well. The reason for this is that we all aim for the same positive objective for the country and the police force,” Sergeant Evangelist Yunisa said.
