- SUSPECTED thieves in the early hours of Thursday burgled six offices in Osun State High Court, Osogbo, carting away undisclosed amount of money after their operation.
Credible sources informed Tribune Online that suspected burglars, after ransacking the cashier’s office, also attacked maintenance department and four others offices located within the premises of the court.
Inside sources in the judiciary informed our correspondent that some amount of money was stolen during the incident, but they could not confirm if the hoodlums made away with documents during the incident.
Security guards on night duty when the hoodlums burgled the court were said to have been arrested by the police as part of the efforts to carry out investigation and get to the root of the matter.
Another source, however, hinted that a similar incident of burglary occurred in an Ilesa High Court recently, but the perpetrators were later apprehended.
According to the source, who pleaded anonymity, “we believe those involved in this act will be arrested also. But I can assure you nothing apart from money was lost during the incident”.
Confirming the incident, the acting Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of Osun Command of the Nigeria Police Force, ASP Egbedele Ajibade, said some people have already been arrested in connection to the development, but could not give details on the actual number of people apprehended.
He, however, added that those arrested have been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
