Two police officers attached to the Force Investigation Department, Abuja, who were on special duty in Jos, Plateau State, have been killed during an exchange of gunfire with suspected kidnappers.
The Plateau State Police Command, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, stated that four suspected kidnappers had been arrested in connection with the incident.
The two police officers killed in the gun duel with the kidnappers were identified as Fatoyo Femi and Inspector Dafur Dashit.
They were killed while trying to foil a kidnapping incident at Little Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State.

Nigerian Tribune further gathered that men of the State Police Command, who got wind of the incident, rushed to the scene but were confronted by the kidnappers, who opened fire on the policemen.
A source who lives close to the scene disclosed that the police engaged the kidnappers for close to 45 minutes before they were subdued, adding that two of the policemen were, however, unlucky.
“The police put in their best to foil the kidnapping. The victim was rescued without any injury, but unfortunately, two of the officers were killed in the operation,” the source said.
However, the state police command, in a statement, declared: “Two (2) of our officers, namely Fatoyo Femi and Inspr. Dafur Dashit, attached to the Force Investigation Department, Abuja (IRT), who were on special duty in Jos, lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire with the suspected kidnappers.”
The command stated that the case is under investigation, adding that further developments will be communicated at the appropriate time.
