THERE was pandemonium at the mini prison custody located along Jato Aka -Kashimbila road in Kwande local government area of Benue State on Sunday as a result of the death of one of a man serving jail term at the prison.
Sources told the Nigerian Tribune that the victim along with other inmates had gone to the stream around River Katsina Ala to bath when suspected Fulani herdsmen launched attack on them.
According to the source, ‘it was gathered that the inmates were bathing on a stream when the suspected Fulani invaded the area and shot at them, unfortunately, bullet hit the victim and died on the spot’.
His remains, according to source had been deposited at NKST Hospital Jato Aka mortuary.
Benue State Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP, Moses Yamu who confirmed the report that other inmates have been evacuated to Gboko prison.
He added that investigation is ongoing”, he concluded.
