Suspected cultists kill two in Edo

TWO persons were reportedly gunned down by suspected cultists at different locations in Edo State on Wednesday.

While a barber whose identity could not be ascertained was killed at Idumwunowina area along Benin-Lagos expressway in Ovia North East local government area, a 23-year-old National Diploma student of Department of Accounting, Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Etsako West local government area of the state was shot dead by unknown gunmen at Auchi.

The lifeless body of the young barber killed in the attack has since been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary in the area.

Only recently, the barber who got a petty loan to commence the small business and had just opened his shop for the day’s business at 8 am on Wednesday when three gunmen stormed the place and opened fire on him.

A source who did not his name published said that the gunmen who came in a motorcycle moved towards the Oluku end of the expressway unchallenged as the locals fled when they heard several gunshots fired by the cultists during the attack.

Security operatives from the Ugbowo and Ekiadolor police divisions were reported to have stormed the scene to track down the culprits but to no avail.

Meanwhile, the Polytechnic student identified as Emmanuel Aronokhale, a native of Okpella, Estako East local government area of the state was reportedly killed at about 8 pm on Tuesday night in his Iyakpi, South Ibie residence at second Bawak.

The late student was said to be relaxing in front of the hostel with his fellow students when he was attacked by the gunmen who ordered everyone into their various rooms and robbed them of their money and mobile phones.

The 23-year-old National Diploma student of Department of Accounting was not lucky as he was shot at close range and died on the spot.

Sources disclosed that the remains of the student has since been deposited in a mortuary in the Auchi Area.

The Edo State Police spokesman, Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was not aware of the death of both the student and the barber.
