Suspected assassins have killed the Majority Leader of Sapele Local Government Legislative Arm, Chief Venture Kagbude in Delta.
The deceased who reportedly has two wives and children was killed at about 6:00 p.m on Tuesday.
He was reportedly returning from Okuoke community along the Sapele-Effurun/Warri road where he had gone to inspect a building project he was putting up for his mother.
The gunmen were said to have laid an ambush for the lawmaker and shot him dead.

Chief Kagbude was until his death the chairman of Okirighre Community in Sapele LGA as well as the chairman of Host Communities (HOSTCOM) in the local government.
The lawmaker is believed to be one of the persons discouraging activities of ritual killings, cultist as well as other criminal activities in the area.
Sources from Sapele LGA told Tribune Online that the council’s authorities had already visited the deceased’s family and vowed to apprehend the killers.
Although a police source who spoke to Tribune Online confirmed the killing, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya when contacted, however, promised to confirm the incident and call back.
