The prices of food items in the ancient city of Kano have continued to increase according to a market survey carried out at major markets in the state.

It is noteworthy that the price of rice has not decreased. The latest price for a bag of rice is between N80,000 and N84,000, compared to the previous range of N78,000 to N80,000.

During an interview with Hajiya Binta Ibrahim at Yankwra market, she stated that the price of rice has not come down.

On the other hand, Malam Muhamnad Gwarzo, who sells food items at Abubakar Rimi market, revealed that a bag of Maiduguri beans now sells for between N200,000 and N204,000, compared to the previous price range of N180,000 and N190.

He also mentioned that the price of gari now ranges from N60,000 to N80,000, depending on quality.

Regarding tomatoes, their price has significantly decreased in major markets, with a bag now selling for between N58,000 and N70,000, down from the previous range of N80,000 to N90,000.

However, the price of pepper remains a concern, as it continues to rise. The price of a bag of good pepper has increased from N100,000-N120,000 to N130,000-N140,000 and N150,000.
