The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have once again conquered Africa. With a team regarded by pundits as the worst in decades, Cameroon bulldozed its way into the acme of African football, defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt to earn its fourth AFCON trophy. Gabon 2017 was certainly an epochal event.
The Super Eagles must learn from Cameroon. The lesson is that doggedness, patriotism and focus are key virtues that any team intending to rule a continent or the world at large must have. There were no protests over issues of match bonus as Cameroon claimed its fourth continental prize.
Differences between the players and their football federation were sorted out amicably. The players came to Gabon determined to rule Africa and they did. In 2019, we expect no less from the Super Eagles.
