The Honorary President of the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria Ltd/Gte (MCSN), Dr. Sunday Adegeye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade (KSA), led a delegation of board members and staff to the Lagos home of the late music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, who passed away recently.
The visit was MCSN’s official gesture to convey condolences to the family on behalf of its millions of members and international affiliates.
The Juju music superstar, accompanied by the Chairman of the Board, Orits Williki, the CEO of the Society, Mayo Ayilaran, Kenny “Keke” Ogungbe, Tee Mac, and other board members, was visibly emotional.

While offering his condolences to the family, KSA prayed for God’s strength to help them bear the irreparable loss of such a talented, multi-dimensional diva. He remarked that as a member of MCSN, the Elegant Stallion was a joy to be around, adding, “Her legacy will live on forever.”
Orits Williki, in his tribute, described her as “a man” in terms of her strength and principles, urging women, especially the younger generation, to look up to Onyeka Onwenu as a role model, as she always stood for what was right, irrespective of gender.
The CEO of the Society described her as a woman of impact who despised injustice and consistently stood up for what was right. He added that the legacy of the Elegant Stallion will never be forgotten.
