Dr. Sijibomi Ogundele, Group Managing Director of Sujimoto Holdings, has praised Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for presenting a groundbreaking ₦971 billion budget for 2025.
Dubbed the “Budget of Exponential Growth and Inclusive Prosperity,” this ambitious plan aims to transform critical sectors including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the state.
Education takes the forefront of this vision, receiving an impressive ₦320.6 billion allocation—more than a third of the entire budget. For the second year in a row, education is the highest priority in Enugu’s budget.
At the heart of this educational reform is the Enugu Smart Schools initiative, a ₦155 billion project to construct 260 state-of-the-art schools across all 260 wards in the state. To bring this transformative project to life, Governor Mbah has partnered with Sujimoto Construction, a leader in luxury and innovative building solutions.
Dr. Ogundele’s frequent visits to Enugu highlight the strategic significance of this partnership. He stated, “The Enugu Smart Schools project represents a bold step forward in educational infrastructure. By blending technology, sustainable design, and innovation, we are creating learning spaces that will empower the next generation to address global challenges.”
The 2025 budget further underscores Governor Mbah’s entrepreneurial mindset with a ₦213.1 billion allocation for works and infrastructure. Sujimoto’s involvement spans beyond education, as the company seeks opportunities in real estate, transportation, and agro-industrial growth.
In transportation, ₦41.1 billion has been allocated to key projects such as an international cargo terminal and the reopening of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport. These initiatives aim to position Enugu as a regional economic center, facilitating smoother trade and economic development.
Healthcare also sees a significant increase, with ₦45.8 billion set aside—a fourfold rise compared to 2024. Sujimoto’s integration of healthcare services into urban projects aligns seamlessly with Governor Mbah’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare to every child in Enugu.
The agriculture sector, crucial to Enugu’s economy, will benefit from a ₦82.3 billion allocation aimed at boosting production and promoting agro-industrialization. Sujimoto’s expertise in agro-tourism and sustainable farm estate systems will be pivotal in establishing Enugu as Nigeria’s food basket.
Dr. Ogundele expressed admiration for Governor Mbah’s vision, saying, “Governor Mbah’s innovative leadership illustrates the strong potential of collaboration between the public and private sectors. Sujimoto is honored to contribute to this journey that will elevate Enugu as a symbol of growth and progress in Africa.”
Governor Mbah’s landmark budget aims to position Enugu as an innovation and commerce hub, rivaling the economic powerhouses of Lagos. The partnership between Governor Mbah and Sujimoto Construction demonstrates the impact of visionary leadership and entrepreneurial excellence, setting Enugu on a path toward sustainable development and serving as a model for Nigeria and beyond.
