I recently read somewhere that regular consumption of sugary drinks may lead to early death. I love soft drinks and sugary beverages a lot. Kindly let me know what I can do to stop taking them.

Apart from the fact that both sugar sweetened and artificially sweetened drinks are linked to diabetes and obesity, new research has shown that the more sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) someone drinks per day, the greater their risk of premature death due to heart disease or cancer. The report called for a limited intake of SSBs and its replacement with other beverages, preferably water, to improve overall health and longevity. In fact, compared with folks who don’t frequently drink SSBs, those who drank two or more servings per day of SSBs had a 31 per cent higher risk of early death from cardiovascular disease. One extra serving per day was linked with a 10 per cent increased risk of heart disease-related premature death. Drinking water in place of sugary drinks is a healthy choice that could contribute to longevity.
