THE Vice Chancellor, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Professor Matthews Akintunde Ojo, has urged university administrators in the country to be up-to-date in their official responsibilities to enable Nigerian universities compete favourably with their counterparts in the world.
Professor Ojo gave the urge in his keynote address, last Thursday, at the maiden Registry public lecture of the university that drew administrators from several universities in the South-West.
The vice-chancellor said that Registry staff were in the positions of influence to assist the growth of the university system.
In his lecture entitled: “Enhancing professionalism among career administrators in a competitive and dynamic university system,” the guest lecturer, Dr Omojola Awosusi, a former Registrar of Ekiti State University, charged university administrators to “raise their game to facilitate the process of pooling together the best talents” and cultivate the society to invest in their institutions.
Dr Awosusi noted that “much still need to be done to facilitate the transition of the universities system in the country from average to world-class levels.”
The Registrar of Bowen University, Dr Kayode Ogunleye, in his welcome address, commended the university’s vice-chancellor for encouraging and releasing funds for training and re-training of staff.
