The Senate Committee on Human Rights, Judiciary and Legal Matters investigating alleged invasion of a Federal High Court in Abuja by men of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been adjourned indefinitely on Thursday.
The Committee premised its brief sitting on the death of Senator representing Imo west, Benjamin Uwajumogu, who died at his residence on Wednesday.
The investigative hearing was sequel to the resolution of the Senate to investigate the circumstance surrounding the invasion of a Federal High Court in Abuja where Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu was presiding.

Personnel of the DSS had rearrested the Convener of #RevolutionNow protest and publisher of Sahara Reporters and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, at the premises of the Federal High Court, shortly after Justice Ojukwu presiding over Sowore trial had adjourned the case till next February.
At the Senate investigative hearing on Thursday, chairman of the Committee, Opeyemi Bamidele, directed the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and the Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS), Bichi Yusuf, to submit memorandum to the committee’s secretariat on Friday (today).
Counsel to the defendant in the subsisting case, Femi Falana, ( SAN) was equally directed to submit his own memorandum.
The Senate took the decision to investigate the incident in the Courtroom and subsequent rearrest of Sowore following the motion raised by Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele.
Coming under Order 43 of the Senate, the senator representing Ekiti Central said the incident has raised a lot of dust and concern both in the Bench and Bar.
He requested that the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence be mandated to investigate the incident as he noted that the Senate could not pretend not to know that Nigerians were concerned about the development.
