Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that his late younger brother, Felix Olajide Sowore, was killed as an act of retaliation by forces linked to the administration of late former president Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement on X on Thursday, Sowore, who remembered his brother four years after his demise, recounted how Felix, a pharmacy student at Igbinedion University, was murdered in 2021 while returning from school in Benin City.
He said the incident happened while he was under restriction in Abuja, following detention and trial under the Buhari government.
According to him, attempts were made by loyalists of the former president to dismiss suspicions that the death was linked to political forces.
He added that the police initially claimed the killing was the work of “Fulani herdsmen” and later shared pictures of alleged suspects, but nothing came out of the investigation.

He stated that the Edo State governor at the time, Godwin Obaseki, also promised to uncover the truth, but nothing came out of the promise.
Sowore maintained that the killing was not random but deliberate, stressing that his family has continued to live with the pain of losing Felix, who left behind a wife and four children.
He, however, expressed hope that one day, the truth would be revealed and justice served. The statement reads partly, “My brother’s death shook my family, our community, and countless others across Nigeria and beyond. But no amount of grief has brought us closer to justice. I remain convinced that Felix was assassinated by forces tied to the Buhari regime. His killing was not random. It was deliberate. One day, I believe, the truth will be revealed, and his killers exposed.”
