Prince Afolabi Ghandi Laoye has been sworn in as the new Soun of Ogbomosoland. The installation event was led by Areago High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin, one of the community’s revered kingmakers.
Ghandi, a respected pastor and successful international businessman, came to Ogbomoso early in the morning via private chopper. Before flying to the palace, he landed at Ogbomoso Grammar School.
The ceremony marks the start of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Laoye’s reign as Soun of Ogbomoso. Despite rumours of a court injunction, the kingmakers claimed that no formal order had been issued barring them from carrying out the installation.
Traditional rites are planned to begin soon after the ceremonial installation. The community looks forward to the next stages in assuring a seamless transition and a flourishing future under their new Soun’s leadership.
Recall Nigerian Tribune reported that the court restrained Governor Seyi Makinde from installing Pastor Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomoso.
