Community stakeholders who participated in a two-day training on tracking the implementation of the Community Development Charter (CDC) projects in Sokoto state have commended USAID State2State for their inclusion in budget formulation and tracking.
During the meeting, it was resolved that the performance of volunteers should be revisited and reviewed to ascertain their level of performance, and officials from the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning should be included in the team.
Munachiso Odulana, the USAID State2State CE/CB Specialist, remarked, “The essence oeeting is that the governed should be involved in governance. Our training is impactful. You can see community leaders, including traditional and religious leaders, PLWDs, and business communities, among others throughout the five local government areas of our coverage, putting their heads together and coming up with four thematic projects identified for the benefit of the people.
“Significantly, their requests differ but cut across health, roads, youth empowerment, solar light, just to mention a few. We are glad that some of these thematic areas selected by the community engagement team across the local government areas have been captured in their budget, and work is steadily progressing.”
