The Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Aminu Achida has urged major political parties in the state to consider allocating their governorship ticket to the Eastern Senatorial zone in line with the current political arrangement in the state.
The lawmaker made the case during a stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convened by a member representing, Gwadabawa-Illela federal constituency, Honourable Balarabe Salame.
He said this arrangment has been on since the advent of democracy in the country, especially since the return of democracy in 1999.
“Bafarawa who was the first executive Governor of the state since the inception of the current dispensation came from the Eastern zone of the state and he governed the state for eight years.

“He was succeeded by Governor Aliyu Wamakko who is from the North and he too led the state for eight years and the present Governor, Aminu Tambuwal who is from the Southern part of the state is in his second term.
“So we are expecting the seat to return to the east in the interest of justice and fairness,” he said.
He urged the people of the state and Nigerians to vote for the right candidates who will salvage the country from its current woes.
“Vote for the right candidates irrespective of their political parties,” he said.
The speaker, however, said the APC led federal government has failed woefully in the area of security.
Salame on his part, said they would reject any candidate imposed on them by the leader of the party in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
He said the party will not allow any imposition of candidates by any godfather or political leader in the state.
Salame further advised members of the party to take the issue of forthcoming Congress of the party by insisting on popular candidates representing the party from the ward to federal level.
Speaking on his ambition to contest for the next gubernatorial election, the former acting governor of the state said his ambition is not a do or die affair.
He said his mission for the state is to ensure that the best candidate with human heart emerged as the next governor of the state.
