The Sokoto State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and security before, during, and after the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
This assurance comes as the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, directs officers to adopt proactive security measures across the state.
In a strategic move to guarantee a peaceful celebration, the Commissioner has mandated all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and other tactical commanders to enhance intelligence gathering and conduct raids on identified black spots within their jurisdictions. These actions aim to curb potential security threats and maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
A statement released by the command’s spokesman, DSP Ahmed Rufai, indicated that, to bolster security efforts, CP Musa has approved the mobilization of operational assets, including anti-riot water cannons, which will remain on high alert.

Additionally, patrol vehicles will be deployed, and police personnel will be stationed at strategic locations to enhance visibility policing. The command will also implement stop-and-search operations at all entry and exit points in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
The Commissioner extended his goodwill message to all Muslim faithful in Sokoto State, urging them to remain law-abiding and embrace tolerance despite religious and ethnic differences. He further called on the public to be vigilant, supervise their wards, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police or security outfit. For prompt response, residents are encouraged to contact the command’s emergency hotline at 08032345167.
The statement further reassured citizens of the command’s unwavering dedication to maintaining peace and security throughout the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and beyond.
