Sokoto philanthropist wins democracy heroes award

The Chief Executive Officer of Aleena Petroleum, Bashir Masud Musa, has been awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year at the Democracy Heroes Award 2024. Musa, a former gubernatorial aspirant in 2019 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State and founder of the Masud Musa Dan Foundation, was recognised for his exceptional entrepreneurship, commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the energy sector, as well as his efforts in empowering youth and alleviating poverty.

The award, organised by the Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN), acknowledged Musa’s outstanding contributions to society through his philanthropic efforts and his work in improving the quality of life for the less privileged. The FDN stated that his philanthropy, strategic thinking, and contributions to the development of the community were deserving of this prestigious honour.

During the award event, the organiser praised Musa as a “multidimensional strategic thinker” who has impacted many lives and fostered societal development. The FDN noted that Musa was selected for the award after a rigorous process, standing out among several nominees due to his dedication to societal progress, particularly through creating opportunities for younger generations.

According to the organisers, “Hon. Bashir beat several other nominees to emerge as the winner of this award category. Despite the competition, he was voted in by the people based on his substantial contributions to societal development.”

They further highlighted that Musa is considered an industry leader in the energy sector, committed to innovation, sustainability, and excellence. With his vision for a greener future, Musa is seen as driving significant change in the oil and gas industry.

The Democracy Heroes Award, hosted by the Face of Democracy Nigeria, celebrates entrepreneurs, business leaders, and entertainers whose contributions have promoted stability through job creation, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation initiatives. The event took place at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, with political elites, business moguls, technocrats, and other distinguished guests in attendance.
