A coalition of not less than 28 political parties has rejected the outcome the 2019 Gubernatorial rerun in Sokoto as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the State.
Addressing Journalist at the Nigerian Union of Journalist press centre on Tuesday, the chairman of the coalition who is also the state chairman of the Nigerian Elementary Progressive Party (NEPP), Alhaji Musa Aliyu.
Aliyu, who is also the Gubernatorial candidate of the NEPP said, “We the members of the above coalition have vehemently rejected the outcome of the 2019 Gubernatorial elections as announced by INEC.
“Our decision was rightly informed by the glaring fact that, the elections were hugely marred by myriad of flaws, which had rendered the results of the polls, null, void and unacceptable.
“The members of the coalition have observed that the polls were characterized by acts of violence, massive vote buying, intimidation, non-use of card reader machine as well as duplication of voting in polling units where the polls were earlier conducted which contravened electoral laws and the Constitution of the country.
“With these reasons and more, we are also in total and formidable support of the action of the APC, to seek legal redress for these injustices meted to it, its Gubernatorial candidate and his running mate”
The coalition, however, draws the attention of all lovers of democracy, both at home and abroad as well as International observer groups and democracy defenders to the issue which it claims has rendered the outcome of the election in the State as ineffective and non-plausible.
It called on all its supporters in the State to remain calm and peaceful and wait patiently for the outcome of the litigations on the polls.
