This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner and made available to the newsmen in Yenagoa.
The statement reads in part, “the award is a further proof of your immense contribution to the upliftment of the standard of Education in the state. Your hard work and perseverance in the education sector has earned you the well-deserved award at a no better time than this.
“On assumption of office in 2012, you declared a state of emergency in the sector as a result of an age long decadence. Your decision and pronouncement in 2012 has begun to yield dividends as the state rank among the best in the comity of state.
“I have watched with pride the positive growth that you have brought to bear in the education sector and its impact on the Bayelsa child at all levels of learning.
Your achievements in the sector includes: the establishments of the highly rated University of Africa, Toru Orua, Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama; provision of teaching aids and construction of Senate building at the Niger Delta University, Amassoma; free and compulsory model boarding schools in all the senatorial districts; payment of WAEC and NECO examination fees to mention but a few.
“However, no matter how big a crowd may be a person like you always stands out. In the comity of governors across the nation and outside, there is no one who has worked as hard or invested so much in the education sector as you have in the last 5 years, now your efforts have paid off with this and several other previous awards and more awards
are on the way.
“This award is a proud testimony of your hard work and dedication to giving quality education to Bayelsans and the nation as a whole; this makes you shining in the midst of names and fame. My sincere prayer for you is that God gives you the wisdom to achieve your heart desires for the sector.
Let me end with a popular quote from Martin Luther King jnr – “Not everybody can be famous, but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service. You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love”.
To this end, Bayelsans are proud of your development agenda that permeate all sector of the state’s economy, just as they declare their unflinching support in your Restoration programme to has turned their fortune and the state around sustained peace and rapid development.
