Charles Mgba, popularly known as Bukwild Da Ikwerrian or “Mr. Fisherman,” is back in the music scene with his new EP, Time & Season.
Known for blending highlife sounds with storytelling, Bukwild’s latest project reflects his journey as an artist, a family man, and an entrepreneur.
Produced by Flo Beats and Caution LXE, the six-track EP combines traditional Nigerian rhythms with a modern twist, offering fans a fresh sound. For Bukwild, Time & Season is more than music; it represents his life experiences and cultural identity.
Balancing his family life with his music career, he says, “Music has always been spiritual for me,” and credits his family for providing the peace he needs to create. Now, supported by his family and his team at 36 Media & Management, he’s ready to fully dedicate himself to his music.
Unlike many Nigerian artists who move to Lagos, Bukwild has stayed in his hometown of Port Harcourt. He’s proud of the city’s culture, showing that talent isn’t tied to location. “Where you live doesn’t define you,” he says, noting that digital platforms allow him to share his music worldwide without leaving his roots.
Bukwild is passionate about promoting Nigerian music globally and encourages young artists to embrace their heritage instead of copying Western styles. “You can’t do jazz better than the Italians or rap better than Americans, but no one can do highlife better than Nigerians and Ghanaians,” he says, emphasizing authenticity.
With Time & Season, Bukwild offers songs that bring joy, reflection, and connection. Working on the project since early 2024, he recently signed with 36 Media & Management, showing his renewed dedication to music. He hopes the EP will inspire listeners to value Nigerian culture and music.
Looking ahead, Bukwild sees Nigerian music continuing to make a mark on the world stage. “The world needs to hear the melody from the North, South, East, and West,” he says.
