Sightsavers Nigeria empowers 25 PWDs with digital skills

Sightsavers Nigeria, in collaboration with the IT Bridge Academy, has empowered 25 People with Disabilities (PWDs) with digital skills, equipping them for self-reliance and employment in the tech industry.

During the graduation ceremony of the second cohort in Kano, Mr. Sunday Isiaku, representing Sightsavers Nigeria, congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to digital inclusion.

“Today is a historic day, not just for you, our graduates, but for all of us who believe in the power of inclusion, opportunity, and determination. Many from the first cohort have secured jobs in reputable organisations, including MTN, proving that when PWDs are given the right skills, they excel,” Isiaku stated.

Speaking at the event, the President and CEO of Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Mr. David Daser, emphasized the need to break barriers, reduce stigma, and promote disability inclusion in Nigeria.

“PWDs face discrimination that limits their ability to actualize their dreams. To address these challenges, Sightsavers developed a well-crafted ICT capacity-building program through the IT Bridge Academy. We must all work together—government, private sector, NGOs, and businesses—to create opportunities for their full participation,” Daser said.
