Seyi Makinde: 100 days of laudable administrative policies

Today makes it 100 days in office of Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State. Truth be told, his style of leadership is unusual as he refrains from embarking on a new project that will only speak good of his government but will at the long run be abandoned.

Within 100 days in office, he has put in place, policies that will put Oyo State in the world map and also restore her lost glory as the Pacesetter.

Gone are the days when the government will be holding onto civil servants’ salaries. It will definitely interest you to know that civil servants now get their salaries and wages at every 25 of the month, and earlier if the date fall on a weekend.

Pensioners now smile home with their hard-earned entitlement without stress.

The hope of farmers has been raised and now waiting to reap bountifully.

The Anti Corruption agency introduced by the governor cannot be forgotten in a hurry, an initiative which received kudos from the EFCC.

His Excellency didn’t stop only on the abolition of compulsory N3,000 being paid by public school students in Oyo State as the free Exercise Books are also awaiting them at their various schools on resumption from the long holiday.

Some of the uncompleted projects embarked upon by his predecessor were not abandoned as they form part of projects to be commissioned. One will not be mistaken to conclude that he is the only governor that believes government is a continuum.

One cannot also forget the public-private partnership policy of his government which tends to resuscitate most of the moribund state assets like Agbowo Shopping Complex and others too numerous to mention.

The 2019 budget slash is another laudable step as it would allow the government to focus on realistic projects that will be of benefit to the good people of Oyo State. I strongly believe that with the antecedents of the state cabinet members, Oyo State will become one of the best states in Nigeria.

I can only wish his Excellency all the best and to ensure that he put his focus on his manifesto.

Meanwhile, just like other schools have started attracting renovation works, I urge you not to forget my alma mater, Urban Day Grammar School, Off Ring Road, behind Adeoyo State Hospital, which is so precious to me.
