Senior citizens, artistes commiserate with Aragbaye over husband’s death

Eminent Nigerians, religious leaders and top musicians, especially in the gospel industry, have paid condolence visits to the president of the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria (GOMAN), Evangelist (Dr) Funmi Aragbaye over the demise of her husband, Elder Bola Aragbaye.

R gathered that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr Asiwaju Rotimi Obesan; Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Dr Yemi Farounbi; Oba Kola Adegbola; Oba Edi Oyewole; Pastor Abraham Akinosun, Prophet S. K. Abiara; Young Women Christian Circle, Cathedral Christian Fellowship, Cathedral Light Society, among other prominent Nigerians joined in sympathising with the family.

A host of gospel musicians such as Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, Ojo Ade, Bola Are, Toun Soetan, Telemi, Bukola Akinade (a.k.a Senwele Jesu), Bisi Alawiye, and Oyo PAMAN governor, Taiwo Omotunde paid condolence visits.

Obey, who visited Aragbaye at her Ibadan residence on Friday, noted that the deceased  would be greatly missed, just as he asked for the family to bear the loss with fortitude.

“I call him Editor, when he was alive. He was a great supporter of the entertainment industry and I benefited a lot from his profession, because he supported my career through good reportage at  the rested Sketch newspaper. I pray God uphold the family and give Evangelist Aragbaye fortitude to bear the loss,” he added.

In his own condolence message, Omotunde described the deceased as a faithful partner of Funmi Aragbaye, adding, “Elder Aragbaye lived a humble life and as a true family man.”

Alaso speaking, the widow noted that her husband left a great vacuum that no one could fill in her life and the entire family.

“My husband was a generous and honest man until his death. He was caring and loving to the entire family. I received an upmost support from him when I went into music, even when I became famous. I will greatly miss him. He was ill for some time and my last moment with him was when he called for me while I was preparing his food in the kitchen. I went to him and he acknowledged all my efforts in ensuring his recovery. He prayed for me and the entire family and after some time, he passed on,” he stated.

She noted that the family had commenced preparation for a befitting burial of her husband, who was a former editor of the Sketch newspaper and Chief Press Secretary of the former Ondo State governor, late Chief Adekunle Ajasin, had commenced, just has she noted that that the family had concluded to hold the burial arrangement later in March.
