The Senate on Tuesday observed one-minute silence in honour of the late Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
The late monarch died last Thursday at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Incidentally, the late imperial majesty represented Oyo Central senatorial district , between 1999–2003 under the platform of the defunct Alliance for Democracy.
Rising under Order 41 of Senate Rules, Senator representing Oyo Central, Alli Sharafadeen Abiodun, formally announced the death of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan on the floor of the Red Chamber.
Senator Abodun sought for two prayers: naming of one of the Committee rooms after the late Olubadan of Ibadan and one-minute silence.

While his first prayer generates laughter from his colleagues as there was no precedence of naming Senate Committee room after individuals, his second prayer was granted as the lawmakers stood up to observe a minute silence to honour the departed monarch.
