The Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning at the National Assembly, Mr. Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba, has been appointed as the new Clerk of the Senate.
The National Assembly Commission announced in a statement on Monday in Abuja that his appointment will take effect from December 11, 2024.
According to the statement, Nwoba’s appointment was approved during the Commission’s meeting held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
The statement, signed by the Deputy Director of Information, Mr. Emmanuel N. Anyigor, also noted that several key officers in the legislative bureaucracy had been elevated and redeployed.
It read, “The Commission has also approved the elevation of other key officers within the National Assembly bureaucracy. Mr. Emmanuel Oda has been appointed Deputy Clerk (Administration), Senate, while Vivien N. Njemanze has been appointed Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives.

“Additionally, Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha is now the Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.
“Meanwhile, Mr. Rawlings Agada has been redeployed from his previous role as Deputy Clerk (Administration), Senate, to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), Senate. Similarly, Florence Kehinde A. has been reassigned from her former role as Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives, to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives.
“Earlier, the Commission had approved the appointment of Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo as Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties, Alkali Umar Abubakar as Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resource & Staff Development, and Essien Eyo Essien as Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.”
