Senate has confirmed the President’s nomination of General Paul Tarfa (rtd) from Adamawa State for re-appointment as the Chairman of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), representing the North East geo-political zone.
The Red Chamber also approved the reappointment of Mohammed Goni Alkali from Borno State (North East) as the Managing Director of the commission, and Musa Yashi from Bauchi, also North East, as the Executive Director, Humanitarian Affairs.
The appointments of new nominees confirmed are Ahmed AbdulSalam Yahaya from Gombe as the Executive Director, Operations and Dr. Abubakar Garba Iliya from Yobe, as the Executive Director, Administration and Finance.
Others are Hon. Gambo Maikomo representing Taraba (North East), Abdullahi Abbas -Kano (North West), Tsav Stephen Aondoana -Benue (North Central), Chief Mutiu Lawal Are -Lagos (South West), Hon. Samuel Ifeanyi Onuigbo -Abia (South East) and Frank Achinike Owhor from Rivers (South-South) confirmed as board members of the commission.
Confirmation of the re-appointments and new appointments during plenary on Tuesday was a sequel to the consideration and adoption of a report of the committee chaired by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
