Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, led a delegation on Tuesday on a condolence visit to the government and people of Yobe State over the demise of the first civilian governor of the state, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

Sen. Ibrahim died last Saturday in Saudi Arabia after a brief illness.

Inuwa Yahaya had earlier, in a statement, on behalf of the 19 Northern Governors, extended his heartfelt condolences to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the government, and the people of Yobe State, as well as the family and associates of the late elder statesman.

Received at the Government House, Damaturu, by the Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, during the visit, Inuwa Yahaya expressed his deepest sympathy over the huge loss of the man he described as a father to the entire Yobe community.

The governor said, “As you can see, this is the Gombe State government delegation led by my humble self to identify with you in this sad moment of mourning a statesman who devoted his entire life to serving the people and humanity.”

He also said that “the news of the demise of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim came as a profound shock and a great loss to us. His legacy of service and contributions will endure in the hearts of not only the people of Yobe State but Nigerians as a whole.”

According to him, “We share in the grief of his family and associates, as well as the government and people of Yobe State during this difficult time.”

Inuwa Yahaya then prayed to Almighty Allah in his infinite mercy to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.

The Governor was accompanied by the Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Saddam Bello, and Chief of Staff, Government House, Abubakar Inuwa Kari, Attorney-General and Commissioners for Justice, Zubair Muhammad Umar, Commissioner of Works and Transport, Maijama’a Kallamu; and his Information, Culture and Ethical Orientation counterpart, Mijinyawa Tilde, among others, as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General ( Press Affairs)
Government House, Gombe.
