A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Paul Chukwuma, has described the appointment of Mr Mark Okoye, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), as evidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is running an all-inclusive government in Nigeria, irrespective of political affiliation, tribe, ethnicity, or region.
He further stated that the appointments of Mr Okoye and Amb. Bianca Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs show that Southeasterners (Igbos) are being included in governance and are not marginalised, as some have agitated.
Chukwuma, who is also vying for the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, disclosed this during a media breakfast with journalists at his country home in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area, on Saturday.
According to him, the appointments of Mr Okoye and Amb. Ojukwu were based on merit and not political considerations, contrary to claims by APGA supporters.
“What our working President has done by appointing these great personalities from Anambra State reflects his commitment to running a government of the people, not just a political party,” Chukwuma said.
“I can authoritatively tell you that APGA members are likely to get more appointments in Tinubu’s administration. At the moment, there are reports that about 50 APGA loyalists are hovering around the Presidential Villa begging for more appointments. This proves that APC is the best and most accommodating political party in Nigeria.”
Speaking on his governorship ambition, Chukwuma said, “My aspiration to govern Anambra State in 2025 is focused on attracting government presence to the state. I will prioritise security and community development projects.”
While commending President Tinubu for the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and the appointment of Mr. Mark Okoye as the CEO of the commission, Chukwuma urged the people to support the APC and his governorship ambition in the November 8, 2025, election in Anambra State.
