Security, peaceful coexistence top agenda of my administration ― Oyetola

Osun State governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has restated his commitment to engendering peaceful coexistence as well as security of lives and property in the state.

He said this is why the current administration has continued to strengthen the state security framework as well as continually strive to productively engage both indigenes and non-indigenes in the effort to ascertain sustainable peaceful coexistence in the state.

The Governor made this known through his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye during rural engagement to some communities and villages in Olaoluwa Southeast LCDA.

Oyetola noted that his administration is always aware of the primary of security and social stability as the fundamental purpose for which the government was instituted, saying such is also part of his administration’s development strategy which every serious government must make a top agenda in the policy system.

He said, “it must be emphatically stated that since the inception of our administration, concerted efforts have been hinged on fortifying the state security architecture through the establishment of Joint Taskforce compromising the amalgam of conventional security outfits and the Osun Amotekun also known as Southwest Security Network Joint Taskforce to also complement the mainstream security agencies in nabbing crimes and other related issues in the state.

“To further exhibit our administration’s commitment to the security of lives and property, this government just inaugurated 360 newly-recruited personnel into the state Amotekun with the procurement of 20 security vehicles and several communication gadgets to support them in the discharge of their responsibility, as well as the enlistment of 750 vigilantes in all local government areas to provide adequate intelligence on suspicious criminal activities so as to solidify the state security network.

“Worthy of note is the current’s administration continuous engagement and quick response system instituted as a peace-building mechanism which is used to nip issues that may stimulate communal clash at the bud, and engender peaceful coexistence among indigenes and non-indigenes in the state”, he concluded.

Earlier in their remarks, the non-indigenes in the state have thrown their weight behind Oyetola’s administration for living up to its responsibility in ensuring security and peaceful coexistence in the state, emphasising that the government engagement strategy among other paraphernalia of actions have sustained harmony, tranquillity and social stability in the state.

Mr Ibrahim Muhammed who spoke during the event, however, urged the government not to relent in perpetuating the strategies which have made Osun a distinguishable state despite the issues of insecurity and ethnic suspicion lingering everywhere in the country.
