A 30-year-old security guard, Joseph Kwame, who allegedly stole seven air conditioners valued at N1.2 million, belonging to his employer, was on Thursday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant, facing a charge of theft, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ajaga Agboko, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes in December 2018, at No.10, Anifowoshe St., Victoria Island, Lagos.
Agboko said that the defendant, a security guard at Danium Energy Limited, stole seven split air conditioners valued at N1.2 million, belonging to the company.

The prosecutor said that the firm relocated to a new office, and were yet to pack some of the belongings from the old office.
“Kwame, who was left in the old office for safekeeping of the property left behind, started removing the split AC and selling them.
“The defendant sold seven of the AC before it came to the notice of the company,” Agboko said.
The offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015; which prescribes seven years imprisonment upon conviction for anyone who steals from his employer.
The Magistrate, Mr T. A. Anjorin-Ajose, granted the defendant a bail of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Anjorin-Ajose adjourned the case until Sept. 11 for hearing.
