Scores of APC youths join PDP in Bauchi

One of the political youth leaders in the northern zone of Bauchi State, Usman Adamu (Suffy), has led thousands of youths in the zone into the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to strengthen the grip of the party, which is in power in the state.

Usman Adamu officially dumped his former party, All Progressives Congress (APC), for the PDP during a ceremony held on Sunday at the Township Stadium in Azare, witnessed by a mammoth crowd under the leadership of the State Chairman of the PDP, Pharm Sama’ila Adamu Burga.

In his declaration, the decampee, Usman Adamu (Suphi), said that he decided to join the PDP in order to contribute to the development of the state, seeing what the party under the leadership of the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, is doing to transform the state.

According to him, “Senator Bala Mohammed has done great things since becoming governor. He has transformed the state into an enviable position, now being emulated by all. The state is now in its right position. I am coming in to contribute my quota to the development of the state.”

He added, “Having seen what has been done in education, health, social sectors, human development, and inclusive government, I am here to be part of the development strive.”

According to him, “I am leading scores of youths to the PDP in order to strengthen the party and make it remain in power beyond 2027. What we need in Bauchi State is a working governor like Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir.”

He, however, stressed that “nobody should talk about 2027 now. It is still two years ahead. What we should do now is to support the present administration to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state. We need to do more for the people.”

Usman Adamu encouraged the governor to focus more on youth empowerment for development, stressing that the youths are the stronghold of development and must be treated with care.

While receiving the decampees, the state chairman of the PDP, Pharm Samaila Adamu Burga, described the development as a positive move to further strengthen the party in the state.

Represented by the Deputy Chairman, Falalu Mustapha, the Chairman assured that all the decampees would be treated as full members of the PDP with all privileges and rights of membership.

Samaila Adamu Burga, while presenting the membership card to Usman Adamu, urged him to join hands with the PDP-led state government to contribute to the development strides of the state.

Also speaking, Alhaji Mustapha Maikwano, Vice Chairman, PDP Bauchi North, said that the new members are coming at the right time when the party needs to be strengthened in the zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.

All others who spoke at the occasion extolled the good virtues and generosity of Usman Adamu (Suphi), agreeing that the PDP had longed for him in the zone particularly and the state as a whole.
