Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, Bright Abeke, has officially approved a two-way driving on Sapele main market road.

This is in a bid to enhance traffic flow and ease movement within the Sapele main market area.

The development is expected to bring relief to motorists and traders who have had to contend with the one-way traffic restriction on the road.

Prior to the approval, the road was designated as a one-way traffic route, which often resulted in traffic congestion and difficulties in accessing the market.

However, with the new two-way traffic arrangement, motorists can now access the market from both directions, making it easier for people to buy and sell.

The approval was made pursuant to the 2025A/14 Bye-Law, which now stands as a law. This change is anticipated to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and traders in the area.

Abeke’s decision to open the road to two-way traffic is a welcome development, as it demonstrates his commitment to creating an enabling environment for economic growth and development.

The move is also expected to boost economic activities in the area, as traders and customers will now find it easier to access the market.

The Sapele main market is a major commercial hub in Delta State, attracting traders and customers from all over the country.

The market is known for its vibrant atmosphere and wide range of goods, including fresh produce, clothing and household items.

Traders at the Sapele main market could not contain their excitement as they expressed gratitude to to the local government chairman, for approving the two-way traffic movement on the road.

In separate interviews with journalists, the traders thanked the chairman for always putting their interests at heart.

They praised his wisdom and foresight in addressing the traffic challenges that had hindered their businesses for years.

One of the traders, who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “We are grateful to the chairman for this wonderful gift. The new traffic arrangement will make it easier for customers to access our market and we expect our businesses to boom as a result.”

Another trader, Mrs. Patience Efe, said: “We thank God for giving us a chairman who cares about our welfare. We pray that God will continue to give him the wisdom to make decisions that will benefit our market and the entire Sapele community.”

The traders’ joy was palpable as they celebrated the new traffic arrangement, which is expected to bring relief to motorists and boost economic activities in the area.

As the Sapele Local Government Area continues to explore ways to improve the lives of its citizens, the approval of a two-way traffic on Sapele main market road is a step in the right direction.

The development is a testament to the government’s efforts to address the challenges faced by residents and traders in the area.
