Samosa is generally referred to as small chops in Nigeria; it is usually served at events as an appetizer. It is enjoyed by both young and old. It is a very nutritious appetizer writes OLOLADE ALABI.
Samosa is an Asian delicacy. Also, it is an Indian delicacy. The delicacy has however been widely accepted by Nigerians. It is a fried or baked dish with a savoury filling which include; potatoes, onions, peas and lentils. It is a type of appetizer that is widely prepared in other regions of the world. Samosa is made with wheat flour traditionally fried but, many westerners prefer to bake them because it is more convenient and more healthy.
Ingredients for Samosa
– 120g flour
– 200g minced beef or chicken
– 1\2 teaspoon of salt
– Warm water
– Half teaspoon of spice such as thyme and dry parsley.
Filling Samosa
For the filling of the samsoma
– Vegetable oil
– 200g minced meat or beef
– 2 medium Irish potatoes
– 2 handful of green peas
– 1 large carrot
– Seasoning cubes[maggi]
– 1 pinch of garlic powder
– Chili pepper
– 1 teaspoon of curry powder
