Asiwaju Musulumi of Yoruba land, Dr Khamis Olatunde-Badmus on Tuesday charged Muslims across the country to endeavour to protect the sanctity of life as Allah has demonstrated in the Holy Quran by replacing prophet Ismaheel with a ram to be sacrificed by the father of faith, Prophet Ibrahim.
The Muslim cleric, who gave the charge in Osogbo in his message on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, said this gesture goes to emphasise that the life of all human beings is cherished by Allah and must be protected by the government and the governed.
Chief Badmus who remarked that unnecessary killing of innocent lives invokes the anger of the Creator and causes disruption in the land said, “It is high time all Nigerians, the government and all stakeholders came together to address the issue of people being killed through banditry, kidnapping, ritualism and other wicked activities.”
The Asiwaju Musulumi said Muslims should not only use the occasion of Eid-el-kabir for celebration but also see it as a time of sober reflection on ways to pray to Allah to make Nigeria a better nation.
He enjoined all Muslims to inculcate the lessons of faithfulness, fulfilment of pledges, humility, and absolute trust in Allah as obtainable from the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Prophet Ismaheel.
