Bodede also inducted two new members just as she inaugurated her new board of directors for the 2025/2026 Rotary year.
In his acceptance speech at the Investiture ceremony on Friday, Bodede expressed gratitude to members of the club for entrusting her with the responsibility running the club and promised not to disappoint them.
She said, “I must thank members of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro for the opportunity to serve as President, I thank the leaders who have gone before me to make every crooked paths straight, they have built a very solid foundation and I promised not to let them down.
“I make good representation when I say, we are proud of you all our club can only get better. Together with the nestse of board members, brilliant ladies and gentlemen, we present ourselves for the task ahead in leading the cub into the next quantum leap.
“Right from the first day ! attended my first club meeting, I was drawn to the dea of service and not charity. It’s a world of difference.
“Charity typically involves donating tangible items like money, food, or clothing to help those in need, while service involves giving one’s time and skills to assist others. Charity is often a one-time contribution, while service is a more continuous and active engagement with the recipient. Rotary is a service organization, keeping this in mind, our projects for this year takes us back to the old familiar known places we have adopted.”
In his remarks, the District Governor 9126, Funkeakpo Ken Batife, said he’s optimistic that Bodede would perform while calling on members of the club to support her in making her tenure a successful one.
“The mirror of your club is in you, so therefore project yourself to the best way you want your club to be.”
Chairman of the occasion, Gbadega Adedapo congratulated the new president saying her investiture is not just a ceremonial programme but a call to service and a renewal of commitment to the noble ideals that Rotary stands for.
“I encourage you to continue to embody the core values that form the bedrock of this great organisation: Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity, and Leadership. These values are a blueprint for building a better world, and as you embark on new projects and initiatives under the leadership of Rtn. Bimbola Bodede, let these values be your compass, guiding you in all your endeavours.”
