The Rotary Club of Akoka, on Thursday, donated school uniforms and desktop printer machine to students and management of Akoka High School, respectively.
No fewer than 70 less privileged students benefitted from the kind gesture.
President of the club, Dr. Doyin Ogunyemi, said the initiative which was borne out of a need assessment conducted by the club reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the people and communities through impactful service projects.
Ogunyemi emphasised Rotary’s dedication to improving access to quality education and empowering communities by addressing barriers that hinder students’ learning opportunities.
She said, “This initiative highlights Rotary Club of Akoka’s mission to create lasting impact by addressing critical needs in the community, inspiring hope, and paving the way for a brighter future for every child.
It highlights the challenges less privileged students face in accessing essential school materials. The donation will alleviate the burden on families and promote a sense of pride and belonging among the students.
At this point, let me express my gratitude to our club members and sponsors whose contributions made the initiative possible.”
The event was marked by joy and appreciation as students and teachers expressed their sincerest thanks for the thoughtful gesture.
The teachers who received the donation on behalf of the students and management noted that the gifts would boost the students’ confidence and enhance their focus and commitment to learning.
