In a heartwarming display of compassion and service, Rotary Club of Ile-Ife Metropolitan recently visited the antenatal ward of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) to bring cheers and encouragement to expectant mothers.
The atmosphere was filled with warmth and gratitude as the team distributed baby kits, each containing essential items to support the early days of motherhood.
Speaking at the event, President of the club, Rotarian Bidemi Adeleye, engaged the women in words of encouragement and insightful talks on the sacred journey of motherhood.
She emphasised the importance of prenatal care, emotional readiness and the noble role of mothers in nurturing future generations.
“This is part of our ongoing execution of our Maternal and Child Health Project titled “The Importance of Mothers’ Health and Hygiene.
”We are proudly distributing birth kits, mosquito nets, bedspreads, diapers, and sanitisers, supporting safe motherhood and healthier beginnings for our future leaders.”
Adeleye highlighted the Rotary Club’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts.
She remarked that supporting maternal health aligns with Rotary’s global mission of improving lives and communities, just as she is reinforcing the value of community-based partnerships in healthcare advancement.
As part of their enduring impact, the Rotary Club of Ile-Ife Metropolitan went further to donate additional quantities of baby kits and other essential materials that are of use to the antenatal ward of OAUTHC.
“This noble outreach stands as a testament to the Rotary spirit — one of service above self. It reminds us all that small acts of kindness, when performed with love and purpose, can lift burdens and ignite hope.
“Through this visit, the Rotary Club not only brightened a ward but also reaffirmed the powerful bond between service organisations and the well-being of our communities.”
In its response, the hospital management expressed gratitude for the generous contribution, describing it as timely and impactful.
